I’ve been a Nuun lover for a while, but only recently did I hear about their annual video competition to fill spots on their Hood to Coast relay teams.
After learning about the video contest, I proceeded to spend about 5+ hours researching (stalking) the Nuun HTC teams from past years. Of those 5 hours, it only took me 1.2 minutes for me to really REALLY want to be a part of the 2013 team.
My issue was that I had ZERO video editing experience. None. Zilch. Zippo.
…So I taught myself via YouTube tutorial videos. Luckily, iMovie is pretty intuitive, so I was able to master the basic skills in no time.
The next step was thinking of great ideas for the video. There were some scenes that didn’t make the cut:

…In the end, I went with a straightforward pitch—just me and the camera, baby.
Once I submitted it, I decided to keep it private because I was self-conscious about being in front of the camera. (Fun fact—I was bullied throughout my childhood. I blame my camera-shy tendencies on this.)
But last night, I had a change of heart. Instead of being shy, I realized I should be proud and excited for what I had spent so much time creating. I realized how much I really want this. And I realized that the idea to represent Nuun—a company that I stand behind so much and genuinely love—just makes me that much more enthusiastic and eager to be part of the adventure.
So, this morning, I took the plunge and made my video public for all eyes to see.
I hope you enjoy it, and I hope to meet you (with wipes and perfume at the ready) in August for the 32nd Annual Mt. Hood to Coast Relay.
